16 People Who Used the Power of Visualization to Achieve Success

For years, I’ve been curious about the power of visualization and the principles of law of attraction. In other words, the principle stating – through visualization you can attract whatever you desire in life. When I first read about the law of attraction, I thought it was bullshit, here’s why –

First, it was completely new to me so naturally, I had my guard up. Secondly, I struggled with keeping my mind clear of negative thought patterns so had a hard time believing in something different. This all changed when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder because I knew it was time for me to transform my life for the better. I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life wondering what I could have accomplished if I put my mind to it.

From a young age, I’ve had dreams of starting my own business and achieving a certain level of success in different areas of my life. To help, every day I started reading books and blogs on mindfulness, motivation, self-improvement, and manifestation. While reading, a common theme was the principles of law of attraction, and how it can be a powerful tool in transforming your life.

Next, which is awesome…

I read how some of the most successful people in this world visualized their own success way before they achieved it. But, you need to understand how positive visualization works for it to be effective. For example, you can’t just sit in the corner of a room visualizing something you want, and suddenly it will appear right in front of you. It takes time and hard work for you master the law of attraction. I haven’t even mastered it, but can offer you the following tips –

1) Visualize it – To conquer your dreams, you need to start attracting the right type of energy. This means you need to visualize what you want in life. By visualizing your end goal, you train your mind to automatically start believing that you can achieve it.

2) Believe it – Believe in the law of attraction. If you don’t believe you can achieve what you visualize, you’re releasing negative energy into the world. Negative energy won’t produce positive results. Believing in yourself will ensure every action you take brings you closer to your end goal.

3) Say it – One of the best ways to reinforce (strengthen) what you visualize and believe in. Think about how strong a message is when said out loud. Repeating what you believe in is known as positive reinforcement, and keeps you surrounded with positive energy. I know you’ve heard this before – positive energy attracts positive energy.

I’m still in the process of mastering the law of attraction, but here are 16 people who visualized their success way before they achieved it.

1) Arnold Schwarzenegger

According to Celebrity Net Worth, he’s currently worth $300 million dollars.

He’s been a true believer in the power of visualization, and how it helped him become successful. When asked why he wanted to come to America, Arnold Schwarzenegger said –

“Arnold, what is it about you that is so different? Why are you the only one that sees it so clearly? Going to America, winning the Mr. Universe contest, getting into movies, making millions of dollars. No one else talks about it. Arnold, the key is to be focused. Visualize your goal, and I saw myself standing up on the stage like Reg Park and it became more and more clear: Arnold, you got to go.” – thisisyearone.com

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of my favorite movie stars because he works hard from beginning to end. Even till today, he uses visualization techniques to achieve whatever he puts his mind to. He tells everyone to implement the same strategy by to visualizing the end result before beginning a task.

2) Jim Carrey

Funny man Jim Carry has been open about his struggles, and how visualization helped him stay motivated. There is a great interview with Oprah Winfrey where he talks about self-visualization, and how it helped him attract his success.

“I believe in manifestation,” says Carrey. “I believe in putting a rocket of desire out into the Universe. And you get it when you believe it.”- applythelawofattraction.com

Here are two stories I fell in love with –

  1. a) Even after several failed acting auditions, he would drive up to Mulholland Drive( Beverly Hills), sit there in his car, and envision himself living in a mansion.
  2. b) Jim Carry in 1991 wrote a check to himself for $10 million dollars for “acting services rendered”. He postdated it for 3 years later and put it in his wallet so he could carry it around with him. In 1994, he learned he would be earning $10 million dollars for his role in Dumb and Dumber.

Conor McGregor is a professional MMA fighter, and currently the lightweight champion. He has an awesome story, and everyone should hear how visualization changed his life. He was a plumber at the age of 15 and was hardly making ends meet. To fulfill his dreams of being a professional MMA fighter, he would work full-time as a plumber, then train, and fight on at weekends. All along, he had dreams of being special and changing the face of UFC.

Conor McGregor stated –

“This is the law of attraction. In this struggle, when things are going good and you visualize good things happening, that’s easy. What’s not easy is to do is when things are going bad and you’re visualizing the good stuff. And that’s what I was able to do. … Visualizing good things in times of struggle, when you can do that, that really makes the law of attraction work.”- educateinspirechange.org

I remember watching an interview with him, and he said before a fight he would visualize what will happen during the fight. He would visualize how the fight would start, the punches thrown, and how he knocks out his opponent. Whatever he visualized would happen in his fights.

Here’s the part I love the most and want all of you to internalize…

Conor McGregor said it can be hard during difficult times to stay positive. It’s during hard times we often shift our focus towards negativity attracting the wrong kind of energy. But, if you can endure the adversity and think positive, then these thoughts will grow larger and manifest.

4) Oprah Winfrey

“The urban lifestyle had its negative effect on Winfrey as a young teenager, and her problems were compounded by repeated sexual abuse, starting at age nine, by men that others in her family trusted. Her mother worked odd jobs and did not have much time for supervision.” – notablebiographies.com

The turning point came when she moved back with her father, and he provided guidance, discipline, and structure.

Oprah Winfrey talked about the law of attraction in an interview with Larry King Live.

“I live in the space of thankfulness – and I have been rewarded a million times over for it. I started out giving thanks for small things, and the more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That’s because what you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it. Opportunities, relationships, even money flowed my way when I learned to be grateful no matter what happened in my life.”- thelawofattraction.org

Even till today, Oprah Winfrey has endorsed several books focusing on visualization and understanding the law of attraction.

Steve Harvey said on his show, “The Secret” is one of his favorite books. He stated –

For those of you not aware, the book “The Secret” talks about the law of attraction and once you master this principle, it will help you find wealth, success, and better health.

When Steve Harvey sat down in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, he mentioned how the power of visualization keeps him aligned with his vision. For example, when having his suits tailored, he’ll get the number 3.5/5 hemmed into his pants and blazer. This number represents TV ratings, and how achieving this rating will skyrocket his success to another level. Having the number 3.5 hemmed into his clothing helps him visualize the end goal, and remains as a constant reminder in front of him.

“I have the tailor put 3.5 in the pants. I put sayings into the hem of a lot of my pants, and I do that cause I have to constantly keep those goals in front of me. I know how much money I want in the bank. I know how much money I want to make a year”

According to Celebrity Net Worth, he’s currently worth $500 million dollars.

I’ve been reading books written by Anthony Robbins for over 8 years. He is one of my favorite motivational and self-help speakers in the world. I learned about the power of visualization through him, and how applying this principle can change your life forever.

As a janitor, Anthony Robbins would envision a better life for himself, and changed his entire belief system. He visualized himself being successful even when things didn’t work out for the first time. He had this vision which he never gave up on.

Anthony Robbins has talked several times about the law of attraction, and how it helped transform his life within a short period of time. For example, in this video, Anthony Robbins talks about the magic of visualization –

It’s hard to find interviews with Drake talking about the law of attraction, but I did find one with Rolling Stones in 2014. Drake visualized a home in Los Angeles years before he bought it. For inspiration, he searched homes with the best swimming pools and set the image as a wallpaper on his desktop. He was unsigned at the time –

“This house was the desktop image on my computer years before I bought it,”

In 2012, Drake purchased the same home that was on his desktop wallpaper for $7.7 million dollars.

Self visualization is something Michael Jordan has been doing for years. I believe, it helped him become the greatest person to ever play the game of basketball. He’s won six NBA Championships and has been awarded five NBA MVP titles. He’s the role model for the majority of current NBA players and future players.

“Every time I feel tired while exercising and training, I close my eyes to see that picture, to see that list with my name. This usually motivates me to work again.”- GoodMenProject.com

One of the greatest gifts he has is his ability to visualize the ideal swim before going to sleep each night. This has helped Michael Phelps imagine how he’ll start the race, the strokes, and passing the finish line.

In an interview I read on Telegraph.co.uk, Phelps stated –

“I had not been doing the visualization as much before last summer really,” he said. “Now I have gotten back into the rhythm of it, of seeing what I want to see, seeing what I don’t want to see, seeing what I possibly could see. I’m trying to picture it all, everything I possibly can, so that I’m ready for anything that happens.”

Wayne Rooney admits how he’s been visualizing every game since a young age. It helps him control his energy, and attract the outcomes he envisions. He stated in an interview with Espn.com

“Part of my preparation is I go and ask the kit man what color we’re wearing — if it’s red top, white shorts, white socks or black socks,” he says. “Then I lie in bed the night before the game and visualize myself scoring goals or doing well. You’re trying to put yourself in that moment and trying to prepare yourself, to have a ‘memory’ before the game. I don’t know if you’d call it visualizing or dreaming, but I’ve always done it, my whole life.”

Visualizing success has been a part of Wayne Rooney’s formula for winning games and staying motivated.

Final Thoughts

If you’re asking if visualization really works? You have your answer above.

These successful people visualized what they wanted to achieve in life, and conquered it through determination and focus. I want to emphasize “determination” because one similarity among all of them is hard work. They all agree you can’t just visualize what you want and expect everything to fall into your lap. You need to set your end goal, believe in it, and work hard at achieving it.

What are your thoughts? For me,

Visualizing what I want to achieve keeps me motivated. I visualize myself with a big home, my dream car, and a family. These are the things I’ve wanted for years and believe with hard work I can achieve them.

I want you to think about ways you can visualize your dreams and inspirations. Think about a routine you can create to help you stay focused on your end goal. Maybe meditate, write things down daily, or read every night…what do you think?
